
Mr. Straus has worked in the investment industry as a registered investment advisor representative since 1979. Over his working lifetime he has experienced many economic and market cycles and helped guide clients through these ups and downs to reach their financial goals. Prior to becoming a founder member and managing partner of New Potomac Partners, he was senior portfolio manager at Johnston Lemon Asset Management as well as director of research at Johnston Lemon & Co. Incorporated, a Washington D.C, brokerage firm founded in 1920. Prior to that, he held the same two positions at American Investment Managers, Inc. a Rockville, Maryland wealth management firm. Mr. Straus graduated from Boston College, magna cum laude, with a degree in mathematics. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the CFA Society of Washington, D.C. Mr. Straus is originally from western North Carolina but has resided in the Bethesda Maryland area for most of his life. He enjoys spending time with his grandson, golf, cycling and travel.
